Long‐term progression of inbreeding depression in a Mediterranean ornithophilous shrub
نویسندگان
چکیده
The ornithophilous species Anagyris foetida L. is a Mediterranean shrub with highly fragmented populations and mixed mating system. In previous study, we analyzed the first 3 years of life cycle two progenies (selfed outcrossed) grown from seed obtained by hand pollination planted in an experimental garden 2005. that found inbreeding depression (ID) was manifested both reproductively vegetatively throughout cycle, male reproductive function being most affected trait. present our main aim to check progression 12 after transplantation. For this their survival vegetative traits. According results, levels ID were similar those some factors decreased thus varying age studied individuals. Vegetative parameters have greater influence than ones (δ = 0.56 vs. δ 0.36) on overall ID. As indicated global 0.72) system intermediate between outcrossing Furthermore, lower capacity selfed individuals has been maintained over time. Our study also demonstrates importance studying value plants.

Among-individual variation in pollen limitation and inbreeding depression in a mixed-mating shrub.
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Variation in inbreeding depression (δ) among individual plants is considered to play a central role in mating system evolution and population genetics. Moreover, such variation could be linked to individual susceptibility to pollen limitation (PL) because those individuals strongly affected by δ for seed production will require more outcross pollen for setting a given number...

A farmed population of rainbow trout under selection for over six generations from the Norwegian Salmon Breeding Company, Ltd. was investigated for levels of inbreeding and occurrence of inbreeding depression for body weight. The average percent inbreeding levels and percent of individuals with inbreeding greater than zero (in parenthesis) were 2.9 (59.3), 2.8 (49.8), 8.5 (87.1), 8.0 (82.8) and...

The aim of this study was to estimate amount of inbreeding coefficient in Shal sheep and its impact on growth performance. Pedigree information and body weight at different ages (birth weight, 3 month weight, 6 month weight, 9 month weight and 12 month weight) were used from 6692 lambs from 90 rams and 1007 ewes. Data were collected on Ghazvin sheep breeding station during 1997-2013. Estimation...
متن کاملGenetic component of flammability variation in a Mediterranean shrub.
Recurrent fires impose a strong selection pressure in many ecosystems worldwide. In such ecosystems, plant flammability is of paramount importance because it enhances population persistence, particularly in non-resprouting species. Indeed, there is evidence of phenotypic divergence of flammability under different fire regimes. Our general hypothesis is that flammability-enhancing traits are ada...
متن کاملStrong inbreeding depression in a Daphnia metapopulation.
The deleterious effects of inbreeding have long been known, and inbreeding can increase the risk of extinction for local populations in metapopulations. However, other consequences of inbreeding in metapopulations are still not well understood. Here we show the presence of strong inbreeding depression in a rockpool metapopulation of the planktonic freshwater crustacean Daphnia magna, which repr...
